New Watercolor and Gouache Painting
A new watercolor painting of a red breasted grosbeak.
I got to see one of these beauties frequenting my bird feader in the backyard over the past few weeks.
We live in Florida, and I am discovering that a lot of really interesting birds migrate through here!
This little painting is made using both the normal watercolor paints as well as gouache (opaque watercolors).
I really like using a combination of both, and think that is adds a more illustrative feel to the piece.

An in-progress oil painting
Hello everyone!
Over the past few weeks I have been slowly working on a large oil painting of a barn owl. It feels fun to actually make a semi-serious piece. Don't get me wrong, I love making cute whimsical things but it is also nice to be a little more technical once and awhile.
I am going to try to keep the momentum up and always be working on something more serious while I make all my other pieces for my Etsy shop.
Here is a picture of the in progress painting. It is nearing completion, just needs a little more work in the foreground. It is painted on a 3' x 4' canvas. Hope you enjoy!

A new painting :)
I love these little 3" x 3" canvases. They are a really fun size to work with, and can be found at any large craft store such as Michaels or hobbylobby . I painted this chubby Prairie Dog yesterday as a break from all the sewing I have been doing. It is nice to just relax and make something silly and cute once and awhile. I find that if I don't take breaks like this I get burnt out too easily when I am working on a longer project.
