Hello everyone!
Over the past few weeks I have been slowly working on a large oil painting of a barn owl. It feels fun to actually make a semi-serious piece. Don't get me wrong, I love making cute whimsical things but it is also nice to be a little more technical once and awhile.
I am going to try to keep the momentum up and always be working on something more serious while I make all my other pieces for my Etsy shop.
Here is a picture of the in progress painting. It is nearing completion, just needs a little more work in the foreground. It is painted on a 3' x 4' canvas. Hope you enjoy!

A Few Fun Christmas Ornaments
I have decided to start making a collection of Christmas Ornaments for 2013.
It will mostly feature various animals wearing cute little elf costumes. They are
all hand sewn with felt, and some have hand painted faces made with upcycled
khaki fabric. I am currently working on a Barn Owl elf, which will hopefully
make it's debut in my Etsy shop this week! :)

Some pictures from the beach
We just got back from South Walton beach in Florida this past Wednesday. It was a beautiful and fun week full of beach walks, sea shell hunting, deep sea fishing and swimming! It's a little hard to come back to the dry heat of central Texas after that. But no matter where you are there is always beauty around you if you take the time to find it. Hope you enjoy the photos!

Colorful Watercolor Painting
I had a lot of fun making this painting last week. It is a mix of watercolors, opaque watercolors or gouache, and watercolor pencils. It is a little more abstract then what i usually do, so it was very refreshing.

A new painting :)
I love these little 3" x 3" canvases. They are a really fun size to work with, and can be found at any large craft store such as Michaels or hobbylobby . I painted this chubby Prairie Dog yesterday as a break from all the sewing I have been doing. It is nice to just relax and make something silly and cute once and awhile. I find that if I don't take breaks like this I get burnt out too easily when I am working on a longer project.
This little painting is for sale here on my Etsy shop

Panda Art Doll
Hello!
This little guy is my first attempt at making an art doll that has a polymer clay face and paws, with a soft plush body. It was a very enlightening experience and a lot of fun to make. The clay is painted with acrylic paint and the cotton body is decorated with fabric paint pens.
I just started a new part time job this week, but once I get used to my new schedule I will definitely be making more of these in the near future :)
I hope you enjoy him! There are a few more pictures of him on my Etsy shop, and he is for sale here:
